Round 'Pure Holo' Holographic Insert Mold - 3", 4", or 6"
THIS LISTING IS FOR A FLAT INSERT MOLD. THIS IS A MOLD THAT WILL BE USED WITH ANOTHER MOLD THAT YOU ALREADY OWN. JUST TO BE CLEAR, SORRY TO LOOK LIKE I'M SCREAMING BTW, BUT THIS IS A FLAT PIECE OF SILICONE THAT GOES INTO A MOLD. BUYING THIS WILL ONLY GET YOU THE INSERT.
Okay so that's that. Hopefully that makes sense. I am sure you have some mold sitting around that is round and of some size that you can slap one of these in and make it rainbow. If not, Amazon has really cheap baking molds. If you would like an awesome flat handmade mold to go with your insert mold, I recommend Taco Molds. Allison makes amazing molds and they're my go to for using my inserts......I have never spoken to this person before though soooo yup. There ya go. Taco Molds. I do not have her permission to be recommending her, but trust me, her flat molds are AWESOME.
FOOD GRADE SILICONE OPTION NOW AVAILABLE! FDA COMPLIANT AND SAFE FOR BAKING!! WOO!! For the low low price of my soul, I can now offer you some very high quality molds for baking. The silicone cost is rather insanely high, but to capture the effect of the holographic, I need silicone that will capture some insane detail. This silicone totally does exactly that! And costs twice as much as my usual silicone but hey I got it. And I'll probably end up taking a hit and not charging what I should for the "I can't believe it's not molten gold" silicone.
This is for either a 3" (7.62 cm), 4" (10.16 cm) or 6" (15.24 cm) round silicone insert mold that will give your resin pieces a gorgeous holographic effect! The 4" size is made to fit perfectly in round coaster molds (such as the classic red silicone round molds). When using the mold, simply place in round mold with the holographic side facing up and the other side flush with your round coaster mold or whatever mold you decide to use. I have used the 6" in an 8" mold for cool, larger suncatchers, and you can find almost any size of silicone round mold imaginable by searching Amazon for "silicone baking mold". They're inexpensive and work fabulously.
Insert is about 2 mm thick and can be cut down to fit into your desired mold. Basically any mold that has a flat bit to it, you can stick this in and BAM! Holo it! (will requiring trimming first) you can also holo the top and bottom of a piece by making a bit of a sandwich with two pieces of the silicone. COOL!
Made with high quality platinum silicone (shore 15) that has been vacuumed and slow cured. The molds must be done with very carefully or the effect will be flawed. They are handmade and I try VERY HARD to be absolutely perfect, but even I can't be perfect all of the time. I am not a machine and what I am attempting to do here is not easy.
If you attempt to dome your finished piece, you will lose the holographic effect. The holographic effect is caused by an etching (so it's the texture) and by doming or coating the piece, it will lose the texture and the holographic effect.
Can be used to make sun catchers that basically explode rainbows or just to make an ultra rainbow coaster or jewelry dish, the choice is up to you! The rainbow possibilities are endless and gorgeous! Trust me, I do not use the cheap diffraction materials. They don't look nearly as nice.
PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE THE MOLD WITH THE INTENTION OF REPLICATING OR DUPLICATING IT OR ANY PORTION OF THE MOLD. You are more than welcome to sell any items yielded from the mold you receive, but do not create and sell copies of the mold. Please, please, please have some respect for a fellow hard working human being. Please.
DO. NOT. DOME. The holo effect is an etching. If you dome or clear coat your piece you WILL lose the effect. If you want to dome the edges, I recommend taping off the holo part just in case.
